Overview of Antalya Airport (AYT)
Antalya Airport (AYT) is Turkey\'s second-busiest airport after Istanbul Airport, handling over 25 million passengers annually during peak years. Located just 12 kilometers east of Antalya city center, the airport serves as the primary gateway for millions of tourists visiting the Turkish Riviera. The airport operates three terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 for international flights, and a dedicated Domestic Terminal. During the summer high season, Antalya Airport is one of the busiest airports in the Mediterranean region, with hundreds of daily flights connecting Antalya to cities across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Terminal 1: Main International Terminal
Terminal 1 is the oldest and largest international terminal at Antalya Airport, handling a significant portion of European charter and scheduled flights. The terminal features a modern arrivals hall with duty-free shopping, currency exchange offices, car rental desks, and café facilities. Departures include check-in counters, passport control, a large duty- free area, restaurants, and VIP lounges. Terminal 1 serves many major European airlines, including Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, and British Airways, as well as numerous charter carriers.
Facilities at Terminal 1 include free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal, ATMs and currency exchange, a medical center, prayer rooms, baby care facilities, and lost luggage services. The duty-free shop offers a wide range of Turkish and international products, including leather goods, jewelry, cosmetics, and local delicacies. Several restaurants and cafés serve Turkish and international cuisine, with both airside and landside options.
Terminal 2: Secondary International Terminal
Terminal 2 was built to handle the overflow of international traffic during the peak summer season. It primarily serves charter and seasonal flights from European tour operators. The terminal\'s facilities are similar to Terminal 1, with check-in counters, passport control, duty-free shopping, and dining options. Terminal 2 is generally less congested than Terminal 1 during peak hours, making for a smoother transit experience.
It is important to check which terminal your airline uses before arriving at the airport, as Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are separate buildings. Most airlines specify the terminal on boarding passes and flight confirmations. Our VIP transfer service includes terminal- specific drop-off and pickup, so your driver will know exactly where to meet you.
Domestic Terminal
The Domestic Terminal handles all flights within Turkey, connecting Antalya to Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, and other major Turkish cities. Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, and SunExpress operate frequent domestic flights, particularly during the summer season when demand peaks. The domestic terminal is smaller and more compact than the international terminals, with streamlined check-in and security processes.
Facilities include a small duty-free shop, a café, and a VIP lounge. The domestic terminal is conveniently located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, making connections between domestic and international flights relatively straightforward. If you are connecting from a domestic flight to an international departure, allow at least 90 minutes for the transfer between terminals and security processing.
Getting to and from Antalya Airport
VIP Private Transfer
The most comfortable and reliable option is a private VIP transfer from Antalya Airport to your hotel. Our Mercedes V-Class vehicles with professional chauffeurs provide meet & greet service, flight tracking, and fixed prices. This is the recommended option for families, business travelers, and anyone who values comfort and reliability. Transfer times: 15 minutes to Lara, 30 minutes to Belek, 45 minutes to Kemer, 60 minutes to Side.
Taxi
Taxis are available outside all terminals 24/7. Fares are metered, but it is advisable to agree on a price before departure, especially for longer distances like Side or Alanya. Taxi queues can be long during peak arrival times, and vehicles may not always meet international comfort standards.
HAVAŞ Airport Bus
HAVAŞ operates shuttle buses from the airport to Antalya city center (Migros/Antalya Bulvarı) with departures synchronized with flight arrivals. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes and costs significantly less than a taxi. However, the bus does not go to resort areas like Belek or Side, so additional transportation is needed from the city center.
Car Rental
Major car rental companies (Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Enterprise) have desks at all terminals. Driving in Antalya is generally straightforward, with well-maintained roads to major resort areas. An international driving permit is recommended.
Airport Tips
- Arrive at least 2 hours before international departures and 1.5 hours before domestic flights during peak season.
- Purchase a Turkish e-Visa online before travel if required for your nationality. Many European citizens can enter visa-free for up to 90 days.
- Currency exchange rates at the airport are generally less favorable than in the city. Exchange a small amount for immediate needs and use ATMs or exchange offices in town for larger amounts.
- Free Wi-Fi is available throughout all terminals. Select the "Free Antalya Airport Wi-Fi" network.
- For VIP transfers, book in advance via WhatsApp to ensure your driver is waiting when you land.
